Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park are known as the “Mini-Amazon” of India. Lying on the coast of Bay of Bengal, it is the second-largest Mangrove ecosystem of our country after Sundarbans. Dangamal Nature Camp, Habalikhati and Gupti Nature Camps are located inside Bhitarkanika with luxurious accommodations and different choices of cuisine and delicacies. The world’s largest congregation of Salt Water Crocodiles is seen in the creeks of Bhitarkanika. Sighting of Crocodiles, Spotted Deers, Wild pigs and thousands of colorful birds including winter migrants from central-Asia and Europe is very common here. Eco-tourists can see lakhs of water birds visiting Bagagahana- heronery near Suajore creek from the month of August to October every year. More than 10 species of Herons are seen nesting on thousands of trees. Most of the Birds are Asian Open Bill, Black Ibis, Cormorants, and Darters, etc. View of Bottle-Nose Dolphin’s, Irrawaddy Dolphin’s and Finless Porpoise Dolphin’s from different beaches of Bhitarkanika is worth watching. Popular beaches of Bhitarakanika are Habalikhati Beach, Gahirmatha and Pentha Beach. It is also the land of streams, creeks, rivers, and estuaries.
Arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport/Railway Station meets & greets at the airport, then proceed for Bhitarakanika. On the way, both sides of the road you will find typical Villages. The scenery is magnificent. It takes 4 hours of driving. Check-in at the resort before sunset. Enjoy the evening watching the sunset in the river in front of the Resort. Bhitarakanika is an adventurist's paradise and a breeding ground for Olive Ridley turtles. The second-largest mangrove forest of the country, it was declared a sanctuary in 1975, to protect the estuarine crocodile and the turtles in their rare mangrove habitat. Other residents of the sanctuary include water monitor lizards and king cobras.
After Breakfast ready to explore the land of crocodiles in their own Mangrove habitat. Full-day boat safari to Mangrove forest enjoys the serpentine creeks, and watch out for birds, particularly different varieties of Kingfisher. Keep looking for estuarine crocodiles basking in the sun. Also, visit Bagagahan Bird Sanctuary, climb to the watchtower, look for Pelican & different varieties of Storks. Visit the Crocodile museum at Dangamal. After lunch visit Habalikhati by boat, this place is very near to Gahrimatha Marine Sanctuary. Overnight at Habalikhati eco tent house.
After breakfast check out from your cottage and depart for Bhubaneswar for your onward journey.
