On the arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport/Railway Station, you will be transferred to the hotel. After freshens up, you will be taken to the Baliguda suburb. The journey will take you through the lush green countryside roads. While on the way, you can witness an array of smaller hills covered with luscious Sal forests and visit some of the Oriya villages. The view along with the surroundings will surely amaze you! The addition of picnic-lunch will add delightfulness to your trip. Upon arrival in Baliguda, check-in into a hotel and you will be free to relax for the rest of the day; overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. After having breakfast, you will be taken to the Barkhama village, which is the natural habitat of the ethnic ‘Kutia Khond’ tribe. This tribe is one of the oldest and largest tribes of Orissa. Once known for their ‘human sacrificing rituals’, the Kutia Khond are now known for their lively traditions and colorful cultures. They are humble, generous and all through their lives, they stay dependant on nature for food and other amenities for livelihood.
While spending time amidst the Kutia Khond people, learn some of the ‘Kui’ languages; language spoken by this tribe, and enjoy a picnic lunch in the village. This tour will conclude post-lunch when you will be taken to Rayagada. Overnight stay will be arranged in Rayagada.
An early morning drive will take you to the weekly marketplace of the ‘Dongaria Kondh’ tribe in Chatikona. The Dongaria Kondh tribe is one of the fascinating tribes in these locales, who still follow animism and worships Mother Nature. This tribe lives in the higher slopes of the Niyamagiri Hills. Before it gets dark, you will be driven towards Jeypore, one of the largest towns in South Orissa. Overnight stay will be arranged in Jeypore.
Following breakfast in the Jeypore hotel, you will be taken to the weekly marketplace of the Bonda tribe, which originates from the hilly regions of the Malkangiri district of Orissa. Bonda women love to ornate themselves with silver bands across their neck, strings of colorful beads on their torsos, bangles on their arms and apply castor oils on their hairs. It is an extreme delight to be with this tribe! On the first look, the Gadaba tribe might appear similar to the Bonda tribe, but they are not. Some differences in the lifestyles of the Gadaba tribe differentiate them form the Bondas. Women in this tribe are keen lovers of colorful attires and also love to decorate themselves with various types of traditional jewelry. After spending enough time with the tribal people, you will be taken back to Jeypore; overnight stay in Jeypore.
After breakfast is served at the hotel, get ready to explore the biggest marketplace of the Oriya tribes, the Kunduli marketplace. Upon arriving at the marketplace, you will surely be astounded by the ‘Sana Paroja’ and ‘Mali’ tribes of Orissa. Interact with the local tribes. You can also get souvenirs and mementos from the marketplace. After completing the visit, you will be driven back to the hotel in Jeypore. En route, also visit some of the tribal villages. Today morning, you will be taken to Taptapani, one of the rustic fringes in Orissa popular for its natural hot-water springs. On the way to Taptapani, a visit to the ‘Bada Paroja’ village will give you a clear picture of the Paroja tribes and will help you in understanding their life and culture. Compared to the other tribes, the Paroja tribes are well-dressed and prefer more ornaments. After a lively visit to the tribal village, get back on the route to Taptapani. After having breakfast in the Taptapani hotel, the tour guides will take you to for an excursion of the Chilika Lake, the largest salt-water lake in Asia.
